Dads

In the Afrikaans community every bride to be has an internal battle as to what to call her future father in law. Cause NO DECENT AFRIKAANS GIRL would ever dream about calling her husband to be's father by his first name...Its Oom or Meneer..and then PA. But as you can imagine, even though most girls like (and in my case even love) their fathers in law, it does not seem right to call him Pa or Dad, cause that is the name for your biological one, the one who fathered you, changed your nappies, raised you, paid for your education...that's Pa. I am lucky, cause I don't have that dilemma. My father in law's name is Davey and that is what he will stay. I know what you are thinking...so, you are not a decent afrikaans girl. Well I am. Davey sounds very much like Dad, does it not?
